Frickin Lasers!!!

After a short but fruitful spell with a 2.5w Diode laser I decided to purchase a 40w Chinese CO2 laser. I did quiet a bit of research before I bought it and most people seem to like them once they have upgraded a few things.

So I bit the bullet and bought one. 4 days later it arrived, Well packaged and ready for me to start engraving. I did a few pictures on various woods then turned my hand to glass. The glass worked really well so I started making a motorised bottle/glass turner so I could properly do these.

Unfortunately just as I was cutting the last piece of Perspex the laser stopped firing!

The laser tube had failed, after 2 weeks!!

Needless to say I was not happy and asked the nice Chinese ebay seller to refund me some money to have it repaired. I was offered the price of the tube, no repair costs, no money for my inconvenience and I would have to wait a month before the new tube arrived.

When I was able, I escalated to ebay and they told the seller to refund me.

A happy ending for once.

I am currently in the process of repairing the laser and have ordered the tube. I’ll post some pics when I get it working.
